When dieting, a lot of people fail to pay attention to the fact that eating the right foods is not the only thing that you have to worry about. Consuming too much of the right stuff will prevent you from losing weight, and might lead you to believe that there is no diet out there that will work.

When you choose good foods, you are half way to where you want to be, but you also have to remember that the the size of the portion is just as important as the food itself. That, along with exercise, will truly be the key you need to get those pounds off of your frame and to make you feel better and better each day.

In fact, if you talk with a doctor they may tell you that food portion sizes are the biggest problems that face dieters.

When you go to a restaurant, you may find healthy options on the menu, and always selecting healthy options is obviously important to your diet. However, what you may not realize is that the food portion sizes are often way too big, and as a result you are actually packing on more calories than you think. In some instances a smaller portion size of a more unhealthy food would actually have been better for you.

You also have to watch your foods portion sizes when eating lower calorie foods. Many dieters think that because the food is lower in calories that they can eat more. This happens a lot with foods like reduced fat ice creams, cookies or gluten-free cooking.

If you wish to include items like these in your diet just be mindful of the portion size and read the information on the side of the package carefully so that you are aware how much you are actually consuming in terms of calories. If you can’t keep your sizes to the recommended quantities perhaps you should consider skipping them all together.
