What is Twitter? Twitter is quickly becoming one of the most popular Social Networking sites online. Unless you have been living on a desert island somewhere I am quite sure you have heard of Myspace, Linkedin and Facebook. these are just a few of the most popular social networking sites. Each site has it’s own demographics. Each site has it’s own uses as well as it’s own set of rules for use.
Twitter establishes a basic need to stay in touch with people it is human interaction through short or brief messaging and always answering the question of what are you doing? Twitter does have one distinct difference then other social media sites and that is the form of communication that they use. Twitter only allows 140 characters of communication at one time. In other words you may only type in 140 characters of text at once per communication. So what you are really doing is texting. I believe these are called tweets. I know this all sounds very cute. It’s not, it is a very powerful force to be reckoned with. Although texting seems to be a simple form of communication you will see the power in twitter once you sign up.
I went to a seminar recently about social networking where one of the speakers had his laptop open and was conversing with his twitter following during the seminar. He was a guest speaker but in between the presentations of the speakers he was texting or tweeting if you will to his followers and explaining what was going on at the time. This might seem too high tech? I think not. I am quite certain that you knwo people that send out text messages constantly. Well texting is one of the primary uses of twitter.
It really is easy to build your business and make money on Twitter once you learn the ropes. One way to accomplish this is by building a following of members.
